Here is the obituary posted on the funeral home website, with some edits I should have made before sending it to them:
Teresa Jan Nials, born Teresa Jan Perryman, passed away on July 2nd, 2022 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Teresa is survived by her Husband, Jon, her four children James, Aaron, Aidan, and Virginia, her sister Jennifer and her husband Steven, her nieces Kristen, Kayla, Callie, her Nephew Nicholas, her daughter-In-law Andrea and her granddaughter. Her parents, J.M. and Virginia Perryman, and her brother Jay preceded her in death.
Teresa was born on September 27 1965 in Houston, Texas. She attended Aldine High School in Houston and played French Horn for the Aldine High School Mustang Band.
After High School she attended the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in psychology. It was during this time that she converted to the Holy Orthodox Faith and joined St. Elias Orthodox Church, where she met her devoted husband Jon, whom she married on September 27, 1987. After the children were old enough, Teresa pursued a career in medicine, becoming a Licensed Paramedic. She worked in the ER at Seton Northwest Hospital as a clinical assistant, where she stayed for 10 years.
Teresa was a loving and kind woman who was not only a mother to her own four children but to many troubled children her kids brought home. Teresa’s love and kindness were so magnetic that she often would get stopped in the street by complete strangers who would unload their problems. She would listen, intending to understand and to not pass judgment, but to provide help if needed. She also had an incredible strength of character and toughness that carried her through her last illness with grace and fearlessness, more worried about those around her instead of herself.
Teresa loved animals and supervised a house filled with cats, dogs, the occasional reptile and pygmy goats at one point. She was also a talented cook, who adapted hundreds of recipes for various people's unique dietary needs.
Many loved Teresa and she touched the lives of everyone she met. She always had more room in her heart for more love. She strived to follow Christ's command to “love one another, even as I have loved you.
