Chemo #4 update

So, I still haven't gotten the pictures edited from our Alaska Trip, so that will be another post.  Suffice it to say we had a great time, and thank you all for making it happen.

After we got back, we were both exhausted.  Once we had the house back in order we settled down to wait for Teresa's chemo.  But she was having a new pain in her side so she went ahead and called the Dr.'s office.  We had originally been told we'd have to wait 10 days after we got back to resume chemotherapy, which would have pushed it to April 26.  Doctor Jaramillo was not happy that we had been told that and got her chemo scheduled for the following Monday (April 19).  The first day is when she gets most of the drugs plus the pump, which went well.  Wednesday was when the pump came out.  That all went well.

Thursday through Sunday Teresa was just wiped out.  This treatment has been the roughest so far.  Other than the expected tiredness, there have been more gastro-intestinal issues that she has been dealing with. Teresa is also starting to lose her hair quite a bit, so we are starting to get some hats for her to rock!  Chemo is getting tougher, but my beautiful wife is a fighter, and is fighting hard.

Saturday we went to Houston to see her sister Jennifer in a play.  The play was Moon over Buffalo, and was quite fun.  It was also good to visit with Jennifer and her family afterwards.  We left on Sunday afternoon, following a nice meal with Teresa's family.

This week is our Holy Week, and I'm writing this on Holy Monday.  For us, this is a time to enter into the Passion of Our Lord.  The events of this year has put a much more intense focus on dying and resurrection.  As Orthodox Christians we believe that God entered into his creation and lived a full human life, so that we could be united to Him in a new life.  So we will be entering this Pascha (Greek for Passover, and how we refer to Easter) with a much greater sense of mortality, but a renewed hope in the Resurrection.

Teresa's next chemo will be on the Monday after Pascha (known by us as Bright Monday).  After that, we are hitting the road.  We're going to take a trip to North Texas to visit some friends and family.

I'm going to be moving the mailing list to a new site hopefully before the next update.  I'm trying to get all the updates into one place going forward.  In the meantime, you can see the new site here  https://teresa.nials.me/
